My First Job
How can a nine year old, in 4th grade, already be working and making $10 an hour?
Well let me explain my story. It all started a few days ago when my mom told me that
school was going to be canceled for the rest of the year! By the way I should mention it is
April of 2020 and there is currently a world pandemic, Covid-19 has shut down
countries and communities around the world. So it sounds like I’ll have a bit
of free time. But this is where my next door neighbor, Jaci, comes in. Jaci has her own
business where she can make almost anything out of fabric which she sells in stores,
in boutiques, and online.
Well let me explain my story. It all started a few days ago when my mom told me that
school was going to be canceled for the rest of the year! By the way I should mention it is

of free time. But this is where my next door neighbor, Jaci, comes in. Jaci has her own
business where she can make almost anything out of fabric which she sells in stores,
in boutiques, and online.
Since my school is now out for a while, and President Donald Trump made an announcementthat we must all stay home and stay inside,after my mom had told me that I found myself
bored out of my mind. Meanwhile Jaci was very stressed and overwhelmed with selling her
fabric masks, so she called me and offered me a job. Did you know that Jaci gets over 750
orders a week and on top of that one order could mean 2 polka dot masks, 4 striped, and
3 mickey mouse masks? That's a lot!
My job is to cut custom designed logo stickers and put them on pretty pink shipping envelopes.
Oh and don't forget the hardest and the most time consuming thing of all is writing a special
message over and over again on almost 750 letters reminding people to stay home and be
safe.
Jaci is very inspiring to me, I think she is a great role model and I definitely look up to her. She
is amazing because she took something that is easy to her and that she is good at and turned
into her career. She is also a great and a very successful entrepreneur. I am so glad Jaci is
my neighbor, and she is very much appreciated. Her giving me this opportunity and my first
job was exciting and turned this awful and uncomfortable situation into something fun,
inspiring and something I will always remember for the rest of my life.
